Horse Thief Cave & Jumping the Sun

This summer, it’s important to remember that even though fire season is in full swing, you can still find micro-adventures close to home. A few of the fire guys who’ve been in Plains most of their lives knew about this cool cave, allegedly used to house horse thieves and their precious loot.

After we poked around the cave for a while, we decided to sprint back down the hill in a winner-takes-all full-blown race to see who could get to the swimming hole faster. And proceeded to jump off a 50 footer a couple times to get the heart pounding then a smaller cliff nearby into the cool, refreshing waters of the Clark Fork River. I knew that the sun would set down the river corridor & promised I could capture photos of the boys “jumping the sun.”

Below are photos from that adventure.
